The Heart Support Group in East Lindsey, Lincolnshire exists to support anyone with heart problems. We meet monthly in Louth, enjoy properly supervised weekly walks throughout the district and arrange social and fundraising events.

The Group was formed in 2003 and the last AGM was attended by over 30 patients and carers. Group meetings are arranged for each month and have featured a number of eloquent speakers on a wide variety of subjects. Meetings take place on the first Wednesday evening of each month, except for January.

Membership is free and open to anyone in East Lindsey who has coronary heart disease or other heart problems and their partners.  People who are part of the group have found that sharing experiences, anxieties, concerns and progress with others has been invaluable to them.

On Sundays, there are organised walks [supported by qualified walks leaders] which help members keep fit!

The Hospital Befriending service for patients in Louth County Hospital’s cardiac wards started in 2006.  Members of the Heart Support Group have received training to enable them to visit patients. They visit patients at the Hospital, in the Woldside Unit. There are usually two ‘befrienders’ -  a patient and a carer.  The Befriending Coordinator is Bryan Coxon.

There is a half yearly newsletter issued in April and October.
