On Monday September 24th Lincolnshire Cardiac Rehabilitation Services had their open event at Burgh Le Marsh. It was to showcase their new equipment that had been bought thanks to more than £12000 of fundraising and charitable donations over the last year. Many organisations were there to give their support including the Heart Support Group.
On the afternoon the cardiac team were presented with a further £1800 from Martin Brown from Natterjack Creations and Jan Erik Brenner from Mr Fipps Wonder Circus and the Heart Support Group were presented with £500.
The group were once again on the move, this time to Whitby, we were very lucky with the weather as the sun shone all day. We had 43 people and everyone enjoyed the day and of course most had the obligatory fish & chips and possibly an ice cream.
On Saturday 25th August eight of us went to the Hildred Centre in Skegness to help run the Tombola Stall raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. Carol had managed to gather two hundred prizes which Chris Padley labelled ready for the big day. It was a quieter start to the day than we have had in the years before but the custom soon picked up and we managed to sell all our tickets clearing all the prizes. We actually raised £320.74.
On Monday 20th August 7 members of our group plus 2 members of the cardiac rehabilitation team went along to Mr Fipps Wonder Circus for the big night out. They had a great time with lots of laughter and it was a really good show. The proceeds of the evening go to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Services and East Lindsey Heart Support Group.
On Sunday the 8th July members of the group were at the Spilsby show, where on a very hot day they had a stall raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. Two of our cardiac nurses, Martine and Jackie were also present doing blood pressure readings for the public which went down very well and we did our usual lucky dip for children and by 2pm all our 200 items were gone. Once again everyone was thrilled to see the Lancaster flying over. A good day was had by all.
What a lovely day we had on Wednesday the 4th July. The sun was shinning and it was our annual BBQ, lots of lovely food, drink and of course good company. 76 people attended and everyone enjoyed the evening. We had our usual raffle and we made £141 plus an extra £60 for the BHF.
What a beautiful day to have a walk, the sun was shinning and 17 walkers started on the first walk at Woodhall Spa on the groups bi annual Sponsored walk. We stopped for a lovely lunch provided by Chris’s daughters and then in the afternoon we did our second walk totalling 51/2 miles, we raised a magnificent £862 for the group.
Carol & Ernie were invited to go to the Lincolnshire Show on 21st June to receive an award from Lincolnshire County Council for the Couple of the Year Good Citizen Award 2018, they were very honoured to do so.
Once again the group is having an away day, this time not too far away to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park. We were lucky with the weather, it was warm and sunny. We saw the Majestic Bengal Tigers and the cute Meerkats and lots of Parrots. Everyone enjoyed the day, now waiting for our next trip
Only 2 days after our weekend away we held our now annual Tea Dance at Coronation Hall at Woodhall Spa. Colin was in charge of the music again and 69 people enjoyed the afternoons entertainment with dancing and afternoon tea. Thanks to everyone who helped and to everyone who made such delicious cakes, at the end of the day we made profit of £272.
